About Silicon Allee
Welcome to TiME HACK 🪓
Welcome to TiME HACK 2026. This platform is your home base for the hackathon: schedules, practical details, technical info, and updates before and during the weekend.
If you’re here, you’re already in. Now it’s about getting oriented and ready to build.
Who we are
Silicon Allee is the startup department at Fraunhofer HHI. Our job is to help turn strong research and technical work into successful startups.
Fraunhofer HHI is home to deep technical work in areas like vision and imaging, immersive media, photonic networks, wireless communications, and AI. But strong science doesn’t automatically become a startup. Silicon Allee exists to bridge that gap by working closely with founders and researchers to build companies around real technical depth and defensible IP.
External teams can apply to join Silicon Allee for up to 12 months. During this time, founders work with Fraunhofer HHI researchers, gain access to relevant labs and technical infrastructure, and receive support to build their company.
Projects from TiME HACK that have commercial viability and HHI department interest may be interesting for follow-up to apply to Silicon Allee after the hackathon.

Why did we start TiME HACK?
TiME HACK is one way we open up Fraunhofer HHI infrastructure to external builders. For some participants, the hackathon will simply be a chance to build something interesting in the TiME Lab. For others, it might be the first step to the long journey of building a product and startup company in the immersive space.
If you’re interested in exploring what could come next after the hackathon, we’re happy to talk.
